Kilocalorie. 1 kcal = 1,000 cal. In nutrition, the "calories" on food labels are always kilocalories. This is the unit shown on product packaging.
Kilojoule. SI unit. 1 kJ = 1,000 J. The most widely used unit in Europe for labeling the energy value of foods alongside kcal.
The energy equivalent of 1 kg of body fat is approximately 7,700 kcal. To lose 1 kg of fat you need an accumulated deficit of that magnitude.
